Q:Is PureConverter safe for confidential files?
Yes, absolutely. Your files are never sent over the internet or to remote servers. All audio, video, and image processing happens locally within your browser's sandbox. This makes PureConverter ideal for businesses, journalists, or anyone handling sensitive personal data.
Q:What is the maximum file size limit?
Unlike cloud-based converters that charge or enforce rigid limits (such as 100 MB), we do not have a server-side limit. The only restriction is the amount of free RAM on your device and the memory allocation limits of your web browser (typically between 1.5 GB and 3 GB on desktop browsers).
Q:Why does the first conversion take a moment to start?
To perform local conversions, your browser needs to download the compiled FFmpeg and ImageMagick WebAssembly libraries (around 30 MB). We implement an asynchronous pre-loading system to download this in the background as soon as you open the site. Once cached, subsequent conversions start instantly.
Q:Can I use the site without an internet connection?
Yes! Once you load the site for the first time and the WebAssembly binaries are downloaded, the browser caches them. You can disconnect from the internet and continue dragging and converting your files completely offline.
Q:Which codecs and formats are supported?
We support popular images (PNG, JPG, WEBP, AVIF, BMP, GIF, PDF), audio (MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, M4A, OPUS, OGG), and video containers (MP4, MKV, WEBM, AVI, MOV). We also offer professional profiles like Apple ProRes (for MOV) and 24-bit PCM WAV for audiophiles and video editors.
